Inside Atelier Magnus: Where Every Detail Comes Together

Inside Atelier Magnus: Where Every Detail Comes Together

Tucked away in a small corner of George Town, Penang, is our all-in-one design studio and workshop — the home of Atelier Magnus.

From concept to shipping label, nearly everything happens here. We design, prototype, assemble, photograph, and ship each product ourselves. It’s a compact space, and yes — it gets a little messy at times — but every square meter has a purpose. It’s a working studio that reflects how we work: hands-on, detail-obsessed, and always evolving.

What We Do

We start with design. Our team sketches ideas, tests concepts, and works closely with external collaborators to engineer thoughtful, refined products — like the slate75. We use our in-house 3D printer to quickly prototype new parts and test fitment and function before moving to full production. While CNC machining and anodising are done by trusted partners, everything else happens right here in our studio.

We prepare surfaces, assemble every keyboard by hand, fine-tune the sound and feel, shoot all our product photos and videos, and carefully pack each unit before it leaves our hands.

Our Spaces

Even in our small footprint, we’ve built dedicated zones for different parts of the process:

  • Office workstations for design, communication, and coordination
  • Assembly workstations for soldering, tuning, and piecing everything together
  • Surface preparation area for cleaning, detailing, and finishing parts by hand
  • Media blasting and spray painting station for custom finishing and refinements
  • 3D printing corner for rapid prototyping and experimenting with ideas
  • A photo and video station to shoot each product the way we want it seen
  • Packing area where every unit is boxed with care and ready for its new home

It’s not a showroom — it’s a real workshop. Slightly chaotic, always in motion, and full of intention. This is the space where your keyboard was made. And we’re proud of it.
